9 Pairs of Statement Earrings That’ll Make You Swoon

9 Pairs of Statement Earrings That’ll Make You Swoon

Over the last couple of years, I’ve noticed a funny correlation in my overall look: the shorter my hair gets, the bigger/sassier I want my earrings to be. A couple years ago, I decided to go in for the chop and I immediately fell in love with the instant freedom having short hair gave me. (If anyone ever tells you that you need long hair to be unequivocally beautiful/feminine/womanly, run away immediately because LET ME TELL YOU they 100% do not have your best interest at heart.) There’s something about being to turn your head without worrying about it pulling or weighing you down that is totally liberating.

However…

I must admit I do find it challenging at times to look as feminine as I did when my hair reached the top of my bum. I’m never one to back down from a challenge, though, which is why I have found so many ways to make me look feminine because of my short hair rather than in spite of it. One of those ways is by wearing a pair of kickass statement earrings.

Soft or bold, frilly or simple, statement earrings have become a true staple in my wardrobe. I think they really give already put-together outfits an extra boost that takes it to the next level. The best part is that they’re available at any price point (within reason) and are probably the simplest way to transform an entire look. Check out some of my favorites below and let me know what you think!

1. Beaded Tassel Earrings (from SUGARFIX by BaubleBar for Target) – $12.99, target.com

I don’t know if BaubleBar invented the tassel earring, but it definitely put them on the map. (Well, my map at least.) I could go on a completely different tangent about how much I love Target for partnering with major brands like BaubleBar & making their signature merchandise more accessible for those of us who aren’t able/willing to drop an insane amount of money on clothes/shoes/accessories and the like (not that I don’t shop from BaubleBar’s own site on occasion, but dang sometimes $50 for a pair of earrings feels a little insulting to my bank account). These earrings were the first I purchased when Target dropped its collab with BaubleBar at the beginning of this year and I am eager to see what other fabulous accessories they introduce as the SUGARFIX collection grows even more than it already has.

2. Druzy Arrowhead Drop Earrings (from SUGARFIX by BaubleBar for Target) – $12.99, target.com

I think one of the biggest misconceptions about the whole statement earring trend is that they have to involve tassels or beads or feathers in some form. What I love about these particular earrings is that they are unique and edgy – a style very different from the sweet/preppy/glam-looking ones that are so popular. These are also somewhat smaller than the others on this list – perfect for days when I’m wanting to add a little extra sum sum without overwhelming my look. I think this just goes to show that no matter the occasion/style/color/overall vibe, there is a statement earring out there that will complement an outfit perfectly! (Unless the outfit calls for a small post-type earring, but for the sake of this post we’re pretending those don’t exist mkay?)

3. Beaded Heart-Shape Earrings – $17.99, hm.com

These earrings are of the unique breed that makes me want to scream OMFG as soon as I lay my eyes on them. They’re equal parts glam and quirky – something I think describes me quite well. Add in a pop of pink and these are the stuff of dreams! Plus I love that they don’t move as much as the others – don’t they say variety is the spice of life?

4. Ivory Chandelier Tassel Earrings – $14.99, target.com

As I’ve gotten older and started routinely cleansing my closet of things that are just taking up space, I’ve noticed that my more refined style is very simple. I wear a lot of solid colors, particularly black, grey, army green, maroon/berry tones, and Millennial pink. To keep my simple wardrobe from feeling boring, I rely heavily on accessories like these fabulous tassel chandelier earrings (also from Target) to give my ensembles a touch of glam. Like I said – statement earrings have got to be the easiest (and least expensive!) way to turn an outfit up a notch.

5. Vanessa Mooney Astrid Knotted Tassel Gold Earrings – $40, amazon.com

One of my favorite trends – no matter what category of style it falls into – is when a particular piece radiates feelings of a time long past. I don’t know about you, but that’s what these gorgeous tassel earrings do for me. Like seriously. I’m salivating. I imagine these paired with a particularly dreamy strapless black dress or jumpsuit and bouncy hair/red lipstick á la Marylin Monroe. BRB I have to go wipe the drool off my mouth.

6. Gigi Fur Pom Pom Earrings – $34, baublebar.com

These baddies remind me a lot of a pair my sister has in her collection and they’re a look that’s hard to recreate. They are definitely unique and give a 70s streetwear vibe to their wearer. The sassy glam-ness of them makes them kind of iconic, don’t you think?

7. kate spade New York Brilliant Bouquet Statement Studs – $58.00, amazon.com

Another misconception about the statement earring trend is that all statement earrings have to be long and dangly and heavy. Not true, my friends! As with these beauties, statement earrings come in all shapes and sizes and they all have their own special place in the wonderful world of accessories. EARRING REPRESENTATION, PEOPLE. EARRING REPRESENTATION. They might not all cost the same (especially since these are from Our Lord And Savior kate spade) but to me, each pair has their own unique purpose in my wardrobe. These definitely fulfill the need for a springtime sweetness vibe that none of the others on this list can!

8. Triad Ball Drop Earrings (from SUGARFIX by BaubleBar for Target) – $12.99, target.com

These babies are PERFECT for that effortless-looking-but-hard-to-achieve mod look that I’ve seen so many women rocking lately. They’re fun without being too heavy with a bold pop of color that can still be casual if styled just right. Unlike some of the others on this list, I think these are office appropriate – something I’ve definitely been thinking about more when it comes to my wardrobe!

9. Gold FRI-YAY Earrings – $9.99, hm.com

Something I love about statement earrings is that they can be as unique as the person whose wearing them. These FRI-YAY danglies are unlike any I have seen before. They remind me a lot of the festive holiday earrings I have for Christmas, Halloween, 4th of July… Fridays certainly always feel like holidays to me!

What do you think of the statement earring trend? Do you have any particular pairs or looks that are your faves? Did any of them make it on this list? Leave a comment and let me know!

Note: I may receive a small commission if you make a purchase from some of the links in this post. I understand that might make some people uncomfy, but just know all of my opinions always have been and always will be my very own. Like the fact that I think mustard is a government conspiracy to thwart the condiment industry and I AM NOT AMUSED.
